Dove gray is a cool, saturated form of charcoal gray comprised of near-even amounts of black and lightness. It gets its name because of its slight blue or pink undertones, a mixture that is often found on the feathers of a dove. Depending on which hues you pair the color with, you can achieve looks that range from dramatic to professional to modern to relaxing. Needless to say, dove gray is versatile.
If drama is your middle name, use dove gray as your wall color and decorate with accents of deeper grays such as charcoal, lighter grays, and blacks and whites. The monochromatic color scheme is anything but boring when done correctly, but rather, can be simple yet sophisticated. Don't need any drama in your life? Incorporate furniture of natural wood tones and cream accents to create an inviting space. This relaxing color combination works great in kitchens, dining rooms, and bedrooms.
Using dove gray in a space doesn't mean the space has to be quiet. Decorate with emerald green and burnt orange for a more playful, eccentric vibe. Incorporate elements of gunmetal gray, burgundy, and olive green to bring to mind a crisp autumn day. Because dove gray is nearly half lightness, half black, it goes with just about anything. Have fun with the color in all spaces throughout your home.
