Israeli army attacks northern Gaza Strip, Israeli border, IL - 16 May 2024
Israel's offensive on the Palestinian enclave caused at least 39 deaths and injured 64 people in the last 24 hours, according to the Hamas-controlled Gaza Health Ministry on Thursday. This brings to 35,272 the number of people killed and 79,205 injured in the Strip since the Islamist organisation's attack on Israel on 7 October, which triggered a devastating army response in the Strip. Four people - including a pregnant woman - were killed in an Israeli bombardment of the Jabalia refugee camp in northern Gaza, the Palestinian news agency Wafa reported. The army intensified its offensive in the territory, claiming that Hamas militiamen had regrouped there.
